HomeRocket City Cycle Belles

Founded in 2012 by Grace Ragland and Jana Payne, who have been friends since college and began mountain biking together around 2003, the Rocket City Cycle Belles (RCCB) is a grass-roots women-only group for women interested in anything bike. Whether you've been thinking about taking up cycling or you're a die-hard competitor, we encourage you to jump in and share the passion. Here's what our founders and members are saying:
"I would like to see our community safer. And when more people are involved, the need for bike lanes gets noticed. There's strength in numbers." -Grace Ragland, who despite having been diagnosed with muscular sclerosis as a teen, has excelled and become a nationally known mountain bike racer.

"One of our common bonds is our love for cycling, mountain and road. We recognized a need for an all-women's group. You know, we thought an all-women's group would present a presumably less intimidating and competitive atmosphere for women cyclists on all levels of the sport." -Jana Payne

"It's all women in all stages of cycling. Some are novices and some are pros, but it doesn't matter." -Melissa Wood
No top-of-the-line fancy equipment required - just the desire to ride your bike. We encourage you to share your knowledge on our Facebook page; ask questions, post group ride info, ANYTHING that has to do with biking! We would love to see cool articles, pictures, equipment for sale, or spin class info. Even if you just want to have coffee and talk bike, please join us. The purpose of this group is to offer a safe and encouraging environment for women in every phase of cycling.

RCCB offers weekly all-women road and mountain bike rides for riders of varying levels throughout the warmer months of the year, socials year-round, and spin classes/support during those frigid winter months when it’s a little daunting to get outside!

Belles, it's time for our favorite social of the year! This year, Tommy Reagh and Trailhead, Inc. have graciously agreed to host the RCCBs for our get-together.
Friday, December 8 at 6 pm

Here’s the Plan beginning at 6 pm:

  • Food and drinks will be provided, including some adult holiday beverages
  • “Clues and Booze” Scavenger Hunt around Lowe Mill
    • Pick up the “Clues” at 6 pm at Trailhead. The “Hunt” ends and all entries must return to Trailhead by 7 pm, sharp.
    • “Booze” will be available after the Hunt at Trailhead
    • Fabulous prizes for the top 3 winners and all belles are eligible for door prizes!
  • The RCCB Elf may even make an appearance!

All cycling belles and their guests (even non-belles, otherwise known as boys) are welcome to attend this RCCB Winter Social!

In addition, we will be collecting items for the Tent City Project this year at the social. The Tent City Project supports our local homeless community and their pets with much-needed supplies and services. We are asking for:
-Batteries of all kinds
-Winter Clothes
-Bar Soap
-Men and Women specific hygiene products

Hope to see you there!!
