Title: Upper Hurricane via Madison County Lake (2 Routes)

Start Location: Madison County High School, 174 Brock Rd, Gurley, AL

Description: 

Longer Route: This is a BEAUTIFUL moderate ride of 52 miles with an average pace of ~15ish mph. The route has a bunch of hills/rollers with a cumulative climb of ~2140ft, but no major climb The longer route will first go to Sharps Cove, County Lake, Sharps Hollow and then Upper Hurricane Creek.

Rest Stops:  1st RS at Madison County Lake @ 18 Miles & 2nd RS @ Madison County Lake @ ~44 Miles. It also has 4 quick stops (no service) at Sharps Cove, Sharps Hollow, End of Upper Hurricane Rd, and end of Dear Trace.

Shorter Route: This is a shorter and slower ride of 41 miles with an average pace of 13-14 mph. The route has a bunch of hills/rollers with a cumulative climb of ~1782ft, but no major climb t. It goes directly to Madison County Lake for a RS (by passes Sharps Cove). It then goes to Sharps Hollow then to Upper Hurricane following the same route as the longer ride.

Rest Stops:  1st RS at Madison County Lake @ 7 Miles & 2nd RS @ Madison County Lake @ ~34 Miles . It also has 3 quick stops (no service) at Sharps Hollow, End of Upper Hurricane Rd, and end of Dear Trace.

It looks to be a beautiful day on Saturday.

 

Bring a cue sheet and/or a map and/or Garmin and have the phone number of the Ride Leader. It is also recommended that you have the phone number of at least one friend.

Again, this is a moderate ride of 52 Miles and also a slower pace ride of 41 miles with a lot of hills & rollers so be sure you can do the stated average pace and distance. If you choose to ride at a much faster pace or deviate from either route, then you are on your own.
