Title: Bugtussle Boogie Ride (2 Routes)

Distance: 43 miles & 56 miles

Start Location: 1st Baptist Church of Taft, 1377 Ardmore Hwy (parking lot), Taft, TN

Date and Start Time: Saturday, 7 July @ 7:00 AM

Ride Leaders: Geri Reddy, rkstdy_reddy@yahoo.com, 256 656-0876 and Hunter Chockley, chockleyj@bellsouth.net , 256 527-8643

Route 1 Description: Hunter will lead this route. This moderate ride is a modified version of the classic Bugtussle Boogie. This version is an out and back ride of 43 miles. It is a BEAUTIFUL ride that goes through farmlands, lots of wooded areas and has lots of rolling hills on back roads. Some roads are rough and some descents are relatively fast with curves. Caution is key word. The average pace is expected to be 14-15 mph and it has a cumulative climb of ~1902 ft (a Garmin shows 2300 ft of climbing).

NOTE: At ~Mile 40 there is a 3 mile climb back to Taft (not steep just long).

Route 2 Description: Geri will lead this route. This route is the same as Hunter’s route going to Delina Crossroads Market. However, after the rest stop the route will do a Delina loop and then return to the starting location via Highways 273 and 274. It is a moderate 56-mile ride with an average expected pace of 15-16 mph. The cumulative climb is ~2246 ft. It also has the 3-mile climb towards the end of the ride. Both routes will stop at the POPULAR rustic Delina Crossroads Market (it is located “Somewhere in the Middle of No Where”) @ ~mile 21. Route 2 also has a 2nd rest stop at the Delina Market @ ~32 miles. Highly recommend you bring 2 water bottles.

Right now, Saturday morning looks good for cycling!!

Bring a cue sheet and/or a map and/or a loaded navigating device. Also, have the phone number of the Ride Leaders and if possible the phone number of at least one friend.

Again, both routes are moderate rides with plenty rollers so be sure you can do the stated average pace for the stated miles. If you choose to ride at a much faster pace than the stated pace or deviate from the route, then you are on your own.
